John Watts, Jr. grew up in South Central Los Angeles as the oldest of eight siblings. From a young age, John displayed an extraordinary gift for art. By the time he was just ten years old, his talent was undeniable — and by his teenage years, people were paying him to draw their portraits.

At seventeen, John’s creative drive expanded into entertainment when he formed a dance group called The Robot Brothers alongside his younger brothers Patrick (age 9) and Christopher (age 11). The trio quickly made a name for themselves, winning every talent show and dance contest they entered. In 1978, they appeared on The Gong Show not once, but three times — becoming the first act to win three times in the show’s history. Their success even caught the attention of a talent scout, landing them a spot on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

John’s entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. Over the years, he launched several successful businesses, including a hair salon, a nightclub in Marina Del Rey, a home health care agency, and a publishing company — writing an incredible 42 books.

In 2005, a simple question sparked a new creative journey. After overhearing a conversation about “blunts,” John asked, “What is a blunt?” Once it was explained to him, he pulled out his sketchpad and colored pencils, and quickly created a character: a blunt cigar with a face, hands, and feet — no arms. He named him Mr. Blunt Head.

By summer 2008, John was determined to build an entire animated series. Teaming up with a graphic designer, he created not just a character, but a whole town, a family of characters, and a full world for The Blunt Heads.

In 2025, John’s dream took a major leap forward. Thanks to one of his team members, he developed a mobile app to bring The Blunt Heads short episodes, custom air fresheners, and original soundtrack directly to fans across the world.

After so many years of hard work, creativity, and perseverance, John Watts, Jr. is seeing his childhood dream come to life — and now, the world gets to enjoy it too.
